Family Gives Brain-dead Boy’s Kidneys | Jaipur News

Jaipur: The family of a 16-year-old boy, who was declared brain dead at SMS Hospital late Friday night, donated his kidneys. Gaurav Mahawar, a resident of Hindaun Karauli, had met with an accident and suffered severe head injuries when his bike collided with another bike on September 4. He was taken to SMS Hospital on the same day.
“The brain-dead declaration committee conducted apnea tests twice and they declared him brain dead on Friday. The family was provided with counselling, and they were encouraged to donate his organs. After giving the consent, his kidneys were harvested to give a new lease of life to the needy,” said Dr Devendra Purohit, spokesperson, SMS Hospital. tnn
