Flights Likely From Sept At Terminal 1 | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Officials from Jaipur International Airport said on Tuesday that they are planning to start flights at Terminal 1 from September as most facilities have already been set up.
“In May, the Terminal 1 was ready with almost all facilities for operation of Haj flights, and it was like a trial for regular flight operations. From security check counters, immigration check counters, seating facilities, food and beverage facility, waiting area, tea and water facility, all has been set up at the terminal,” said an official of the airport.
Officials said that daily at least two flights for Haj were being operated from Terminal 1 in May and next month when the pilgrims return, flight operations will again take place at the terminal. Announcement systems have also been installed at the terminal.
“It is being planned that by September, one or two flights will be shifted to terminal 1 from terminal 2 for operations and gradually the terminal will be opened fully,” said the official.
Terminal 1 had shut down operations in 2012, after which renovation work was carried out over the years by Airports Authority of India. Officials said that the work got delayed in the past three years due to the pandemic. After almost ten years, operations from terminal 1 of Jaipur Airport are likely to start this year, after missing many deadlines.
Officials had earlier said that the master plan for terminal 1 is yet to be submitted. It will have details of all developments that will be made at the airport over the next 49 years. The authorities are also finalising landing of charted flights at terminal 1 once it is operational, instead of at terminal 2.
