Free Covid Booster Shots For 18-59 Age Group Starts Today | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Free precaution doses of Covid vaccines will be administered at government vaccination centres to people belonging to the age group 18-59 from Friday.
Being implemented on a ‘mission mode’ by the Centre, this 75-day special vaccination drive is a part of the celebration for ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
“At present, around 50,000 doses of Covid vaccines are being administered in Rajasthan daily. During peak season, there were around 7,500 vaccination centres. Now, there are 2,500-3,000 centres in the state,” said Dr Raghuraj Singh, project director (vaccination), Rajasthan.
A statement from the ministry of health and family welfare said, “The special drive is aimed to increase uptake for the precaution dose of vaccine among the eligible adult population.”
“States and Union territories have been urged to give an intensive and ambitious push towards full Covid vaccination coverage by vaccinating all eligible beneficiaries and covering them with precaution dose,” the statement read.
“Union health secretary (Rajesh Bhushan) highlighted that less percentage of precaution doses uptake among population groups aged 18 years and above (8%) and persons aged 60 years and above (27%) is a cause of concern. The government of India has announced a special drive ‘COVID Vaccination Amrit Mahotsava’ to be launched to provide free precaution dose at all government Covid vaccination centres for persons aged 18 years and above,” added the statement.
“This would be for 75 days from July 15 to September 30. Those eligible for the precaution dose include all persons of 18 years who have completed six months (or 26 weeks) from the date of administration of 2nd dose,” it further stated.
