Gadkari: We Will Make Raj Roads Like Those In Us By 2024: Gadkari | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari on Monday promised to make roads of Rajasthan on par with those in the United States by the end of 2024, making it a happy and prosperous state.
Calling upon the farmers of Rajasthan to become ‘energy providers’, Gadkari on Monday said he was going to introduce a new technology through which the state farmers and other states could produce bitumen to plug the deficit of 30 lakh tonnes, which is being imported for construction of roads, highways and other industrial work.
Gadkari said this while addressing a gathering at a foundation stone-laying programme of various development works at Pakka Sarna village in Hanumangarh district. He inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of six national highway projects and seven railway overbridges (ROBs) under the Setu Bandhan project with a total cost of Rs 2,050 crore.
He also said the 917-km long Amritsar–Jamnagar Economic Corridor (trans-Rajasthan) will be completed by October 2023. The minister said it was the aim of everyone at the Centre to make the country’s villages happy and prosperous. “I promise you that by the end of 2024, roads of Rajasthan will be at par with those of America’s. Due to these roads, Rajasthan will also become a happy and prosperous state,” Gadkari said.
“The farmers have already become energy providers; it is my dream that they become bitumen providers. In our country, we need 80 lakh tonnes of bitumen. The refineries produce around 50 lakh tonnes and 30 lakh tonnes is imported. Farmers of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Punjab, Haryana, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will produce the remaining 30 lakh tonnes,” said Gadkari.
