Gang war averted in Jaipur, 7 arrested | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: The city police on Sunday claimed to have averted a gang war over a plot of disputed land after a joint team of crime branch and Mansarovar police arrested seven accused and recovered illegal weapons and ammunition from them.
The arrested accused-Koshlendra alias Kaushal (28), Satish Chandra (38), Harpal Singh (24), Dinesh Singh (28), Deepak Kumar (24), Banshi Dhar (24), and Rishi Sharma-are residents of the Bharatpur district. One country-made pistol (desi katta), a revolver and 19 cartridges were recovered from them, said police.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that some of the arrested accused were booked in the past for land grabbing, loot and offences under the Arms Act, said police.
One Devendra Singhal, a resident of Patrakar Colony, had allegedly called the seven accused to come to Jaipur. Singhal, who had a land dispute, had anticipated that his rivals had also made similar arrangements by enlisting the help of multiple men, said a police official. “Singhal intended to take possession of the land and terrorize the other party,” he added.
All the seven accused were staying in the city when police raided their whereabouts and arrested them. “One of the accused, Koshlendra, is wanted by Bharatpur police in a murder case there. Efforts are underway to ascertain the criminal background of other suspects involved in the case,” said the official.
