Govt Issues Gazette Notification For Highrise Water Connections | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: The state government on Friday issued gazette notification for water connections at highrises.
The notification dated April 24, 2023 states it was issued following the cabinet order dated April 13 that allows the Public Health and Engineering Department (PHED)to supply pipeline drinking water even to multistorey buildings in the urban areas.
“In accordance with the date, we had already opened the windows for application at the nearest superintendent engineer’s office (circle office) of the individual highrises,” said a PHED official.
On Thursday TOI had reported that although the gazette notification was expected soon, PHED had opened the windows for application under this policy and registered Residents Welfare Associations (RWAs) or builders can apply for such connections.
As per the policy, a multistorey building has been defined as one with a height of more than 15 metres from the plinth. If the ground floor is on a stilt or podium, the roof/podium level of the stilt floor will be considered for measuring the height.
The government has fixed a one-time fee of Rs 25 per square-foot of the total carpet area and Rs 42 per square-foot of the total carpet area in commercial buildings. In multistorey buildings with mixed usage, it will be Rs 25 per square-foot of the total carpet area of the residential area and commercial rates for part of the building being used for commercial usage.
“Builders or RWAs then have to deposit the one-time fee and PHED would provide the connection. However, PHED would provide supply only till the ground floor reservoir. Arrangement for flat-to-flat distribution would be made by builders or RWAs,” said an engineer from one of the circle offices in the city.
Once the applications are in process, the PHED would determine a onetime connections fee. RWA or builders can, for the time being, pay 25% of the one-time fee. Rest 75% can be paid in monthly installment for a period of 5 years. The installment amount would get added to the monthly bill of the complex for the next 60 months.
