Govt Plans To Rehabilitate Beggars | Jaipur News

Jaipur: As a part of the ‘Road Safety Week’, the social justice and empowerment department, in collaboration with the urban development and housing (UDH) department, local self government (LSG) department and Jaipur police, has decided to prepare a joint strategy to rehabilitate all the beggars who live on the pavements of the city.
At present, they are being shifted to four beggar homes run by NGOs in four police districts of Jaipur.
“We had a meeting with UDH and LSG departments and Jaipur police on Friday. We have decided to prepare a joint strategy to rehabilitate the beggars. Rehabilitation of beggars is a big challenge, involving their socio-economic and educational status,” said Samit Sharma, secretary, social justice and empowerment department.
“However, our effort will be to conduct rescue operations and shift them to beggar homes. They are being sent to places like Mahila Sadan, old-age home and Gopal griha. In January (this month), we rescued 300 beggars,” he said.
