Nav Samvatsar: Cops Issue Security Guidelines For Nav Samvatsar Today | Jaipur News
Jaipur: Keeping in mind the widespread violence that engulfed Karauli on Nav Samvatsar last year, the Rajasthan police has issued security guidelines to strengthen law and order in all critical districts on Tuesday as a precautionary measure.
A senior official said that Nav Samvatsar, the first day of Hindu New Year, will be celebrated on Wednesday across the state with several outfits likely to organise processions and rallies.
“An intelligence guideline was already issued to all districts ahead of the festival. In addition to the security arrangements, we have also asked SPs of as many as six districts to remain on guard throughout the day to avert any untoward situation,” said a senior intelligence official.
Sources said that in several cities including Udaipur, multiple events will be organised to celebrate the festival. “We also spoke to police officials of Karauli, Bikaner, Bhilwara, Tonk and Bharatpur about the security arrangements there,” the official added.
Police said that additional companies will be deployed if necessary. “The local administration in several of the state’s districts have in the past issued clear directions against the use of objectionable songs being played on DJs and speakers during the procession. Therefore, the local police will also have to make sure that miscreants do not disturb peace and tranquillity,” the official added.
The officials said that many districts are already on alert due to festivals. “All SPs are taking an assessment of the law and order situations in their areas. Some districts like Karauli will need special focus,” the official said.
Curfew was imposed in Karauli in April last year after several shops and vehicles were torched.
