A 37-year-old man, living with HIV/AIDS from Cambodia, who was fighting kidneys failure, got a fresh lease on life in Jaipur.
“It was a challenging surgery for us as the patient was living with HIV and his immunity was already compromised. His transplant was conducted around two months ago and now he has flown back to Cambodia after successful transplant,” said, Dr. Sandeep Gupta, additional director, urology & kidney transplant surgery, Fortis Escorts Hospital Jaipur.
The doctor pointed out that they had to use immunosuppressant after kidney transplant which can flare up the HIV infection or other infections. The immunosuppressant are used to reduce chances of kidney graft rejection.
The doctors and operation theatre staff used Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for their own safety as the patient was living with HIV.
The SMS hospital doctors removed bullet from a person who received gun shot in Bharatpur.
“Gun shot hit exactly the centre of the chest. Bullet traverses from near to the heart and without injuring heart, bullet found in Thoracic cavity above diaphragm,” said Dr Mohit Sharma, cardiothoracic and vascular surgery (CTVS) department, SMS Hospital.
