Hju Students On Hunger Strike Over Poll Guidelines | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Eight students of Haridev Joshi University (HJU) are on a hunger strike on the campus since Wednesday night in protest against the university’s decision to debar students from bachelor’s courses from contesting for the post of president in the upcoming students’ union elections.
The protesting students and their supporters said on Thursday that if the university does not allow students from undergraduate courses to contest in the elections, the students will not participate in the voting process.
They said the university had earlier said even students from bachelor’s courses will be able to contest for any of the four posts, but an official guideline issued on Tuesday stated that “post-graduation students will be able to contest for the posts of president and general secretary while under-graduate students will be able to contest for the post of vice-president and joint secretary.”
HJU officials said talks with the students are underway to find a solution and stop their hunger strike.
