Ias: Man Held For Posing As Ias Officer To Marry Landlord’s Daughter | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: A 27-year-old man arrested in Bharatpur on Sunday for posing as an IAS officer because he wanted to get married to his landlord’s daughter.
The accused, identified as Sarjeet alias Surjeet Singh Jatav, is a native of Dholpur district, said police. “We received a complaint against the accused at Mathura Gate police station on Saturday. The complainant said Jatav was living at his house as a tenant for the past several months and cheated him by lying about being selected in UPSC in IAS rank,” said a police official.
As per the complaint, Jatav recently spoke to his landlord, saying he wanted to marry the latter’s daughter, and took Rs 2.75 lakh in multiple tranches from him. Jatav had convinced everyone that he had been selected in the IAS rank in the recently declared UPSC results, said the official.
The accused also handed over some fake certificates to the complainant to mislead them. “The complainant got increasingly worried about Jatav’s credentials. He wanted to corroborate if indeed his tenant got into IAS. So, he checked his documents and found them to be forged,” the official added.
The complainant, after learning that he had been cheated, approached the Mathura Gate police station and lodged a case against Jatav for impersonation and cheating.
“We are interrogating the accused about why he lied about being selected as an IAS officer in the first place,” said the official.
Sources said the accused was very active in social events organized in Bharatpur district.
