Jaisalmer: A joint team of Kalyanpur police station and DST here have taken major action against illegal weapons, detaining a minor and recovering three illegal pistols, one revolver and one live cartridge from his possession.
Balotrasuperintendent of police Harishankar said that Kalyanpur SHO Geeta Kumari and DST in-charge Omaram received information that a person was coming from Modathali towards Doli village and he might have an illegal weapon in his possession.A blockade was imposed by police and a young man, who was coming on foot, on seeing the police started running towards Oran.
When he was stopped and interrogated, he turned out to be a minor aged 17 years. When asked the reason why he was running away, he said that he had a pistol and a revolver in his possession.
When police checked his handbag, 3 illegal country-made pistols, 1 illegal revolver and 1 live cartridge were recovered from it. The teenager was detained and a case registered under the Arms Act at Kalyanpur police station. Investigations have started into how he procured the weapons, Harishankar said.

Gangster Shamsher Singh, also known as Monu Rana, has been brought from Kurukshetra jail to face charges in connection with the hooch tragedy in Haryana. Monu’s name came up during the interrogation of other accused individuals. Three more suspects were also produced in court and sent to police remand. Monu is wanted by both Yamunanagar and Ambala police in connection with the manufacturing and supply of spurious liquor. A total of 18 individuals have been arrested in Yamunanagar and 12 in Ambala so far. The authorities are taking strict action against those involved in the case.
