Jaipur: In a major breakthrough, the Bajaj Nagar police arrested a 23-year-old notorious parrot thief on Saturday and recovered 50 parrots from him.
DCP (East) Kailash Chandra Yadav said that the accused was idenitfied as Vikas alias Sonu Kumar.
The theft was captured on CCTV cameras and provided crucial evidence leading to the arrest of the accused.
Yadav said that upon receiving information about parrot theft, police promptly registered a case and initiated investigation.
According to the police, the victim had left the house momentarily, leaving the main door open. Taking advantage of the opportunity, the thief arrived on a bike and made off with a cage containing 50 parrots. Notably, the theft occurred in broad daylight, with labourers working nearby seemingly unaware of the audacious act. “Police started scanning the CCTV footage after the incident. Simultaneously, information was received from an informant about an individual selling parrots near Malviya Nagar Satkar Shopping Center,” Yadav said. Police swiftly arrived at the location and interrogated the suspect about the cage and parrots. tnn
