Chairpersons of various committees, local councillors, nominated members of town vending committee and a large number of street vendors were present.
“Under Antyodaya 2.0 campaign, a cleanliness campaign was started with nominated members of the town vending committee and street vendors. Under this, 47 waste collection vehicles of 1,200 kg will collect garbage door-to-door in 22 wards of Jhotwara zone. In future, the number of vehicles will be increased so that cleaning in Jhotwara zone becomes smooth,” the mayor said.
The mayor said regular waste collection process will also be started in Jagatpura and Sanganer zones soon.
On Monday, Gurjar swept temples, roads, slums along with members of the town vending committee and citizens from 7am till 11am. The mayor instructed officials to take strict action against street vendors who dump garbage anywhere. She told both officials and street vendors that it is a collective responsibility of all to keep the city clean.
Appealing to the public, Gurjar said, “In order to keep Jaipur city clean and beautiful, two hours of shramdaan was needed because no system can be completely successful until the public is aware. This campaign will be launched in every zone and cleanliness competition will be organised while taking forward the tradition of prosperity through cleanliness.”
As part of the campaign, areas will be identified where cleanliness has suffered due to sanitation workers’ strike.
