International Emmy Award winner Vir Das has a ‘grounding’ moment at award show; recalls his early career washing dishes | Hindi Movie News

International Emmy Award-winner Vir Das, gave fans a glimpse of his ‘favourite photo of the night’ and it was not on-stage, but rather backstage, in the venue’s kitchen.
The actor-comic won the award for his stand-up special ‘Vir Das: Landing‘ in the best comedy series category. He tied with the British comedy, ‘Derry Girls’.
On bagging the award, Das said it was “an incredible honour that feels like a dream.”As he was also the first Indian comedian to achieve the feat, he dedicated the award to the country saying, “This award is not just a recognition of my work but a celebration of the diverse stories and voices from India.Stories that make us laugh, reflect, and, most importantly, unite. This one is for India, for Indian comedy and for the community of artists at large.”
Before catching his flight out of the country, Vir also took to his handle to post a photo of himself posing with his Emmy in the hotel’s kitchen. Posing by the dishwasher booth, he reminisced his journey from the very same spot to the International stage.

“So. Big moments need grounding. We win an Emmy. We’re walking through the kitchen to the press room. We walk by the dishwasher stand. My manager Reg says, “You remember you were once a dishwasher right? This is where you take a photo,” he captioned the post.
This was Vir’s second nomination and maiden win in the segment, a first for any Indian comedian. Das, who shared the trophy with the popular British teen sitcom “Derry Girls” season three.
