Jhalawar: Cong Yatra Over Ercp Issue To Start From Jhalawar | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Govind Singh Dotasra on Monday, while addressing the media, confirmed that the East Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) yatra will be launched from Jhalawar on September 25. Jhalawar, incidentally, is the pocket borough of former chief minister Vasundhara Raje. Dotasra said buses will be used for the yatra. Senior leaders will visit 13 districts of east Rajasthan in a five-day long journey and also hold public meetings.
The yatra will culminate in Jaipur with national leaders in attendance.
These 13 districts (Jhalawar, Baran, Kota, Bundi, Sawai Madhopur, Ajmer, Tonk, Jaipur, Dausa, Karauli, Alwar, Bharatpur and Dholpur) are those which would immensely benefit from the ERCP. The yatra is meant to put pressure on the Centre to accord the project status of national importance and also to remind the people of the breach of promise by the Centre. Dotasra said the five-day yatra in the 13 districts will also see street corner and public meetings. Talking about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed public meeting in Jaipur on September 25, Dotasra said, “Five-six meetings that were held earlier were flops, be it in Sikar or Ajmer. People come to attend our meetings while BJP’s factionalism is getting exposed in their meetings. They are not in harmony with each other.”
He said the BJP parivartan yatra has become a joke as BJP leaders are fighting among themselves for change in their party.
Dotasra said PM Modi has not fulfilled the promise of declaring ERCP as a national project. “Modiji has not given anything till date despite his half-a-dozen visits,” he added.
BJP is a leaderless party. BJP wants to contest elections by putting forward Modi’s face and misuing constitutional institutions, but it will not succeed. Modi’s face will no longer be successful in the elections. We saw it in Punjab, we saw it in Himachal Pradesh.
“The public has understood the reality that the central government is one of rhetoric whereas the Rajasthan government works for people. People say that the Congress government will be repeated in state,” he concluded.

Congress to start 5-day yatra in east Rajasthan over Centres failure on ERCP
The Congress party in Rajasthan plans to organize a five-day yatra in 13 districts of eastern Rajasthan to demand national status for the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project. The project aims to provide drinking water and irrigation to 13 districts in the region. The party believes that the yatra could resonate with voters as they feel the Centre has not fulfilled its promise on the project. The yatra is expected to start after the conclusion of the BJP’s parivartan yatra on September 25.
Now, Cong plans yatra in eastern Raj over national status for ERCP
The Congress party in Rajasthan plans to organize a five-day yatra in 13 districts of eastern Rajasthan to demand national status for the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP). The ERCP is a Rs 37,000 crore project that aims to provide drinking water and irrigation to the region. Despite submitting the detailed project report in 2017, the central government has not given approval for the project. Congress aims to gather support for its campaign and has received over 4,000 applications for party tickets. The party also plans to hold meetings with beneficiaries of state government schemes before and after the assembly polls are announced.
Chhattisgarh: BJPs parivartan yatra idea is ‘copy of Congress’
Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Chief Deepak Baij criticized the BJP’s Parivartan Yatra, stating that the party copied the Congress’ idea and would not benefit from it. Baij also accused the BJP of neglecting tribals during their 15 years of power in the state. He called on the BJP to pay homage to Congress leaders martyred in a Maoist attack before starting the yatra. Congress leaders also commented on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit, stating that he had neglected the state in the past and should address serious issues in Manipur as well. The Congress party plans to hold a rail roko Abhiyan as a protest against the cancellation of trains during the festival season. The cancellation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Dantewada for the yatra was attributed to a lack of crowd support and BJP workers. The Congress party launched its Parivartan Yatra in 2013, which was attacked by Maoists, resulting in the death of several Congress leaders. The Congress leaders claimed that the BJP’s attempt to bring change was unnecessary as the situation in the state had already improved under the present Congress government. They highlighted the changes made by the Bhupesh Baghel government, such as increased MSPs for farmers.
