Jaipur: In a major crackdown, the Jawahar Circle police station in Jaipur arrested five men on Saturday for their involvement in a series of robberies targeting victims lured through fake escort services.
SHO Dalbeer Singh identified the accused as Jitendra Yadav, Deepak Kumar, Anil Yadav, Ajay Meena, and Mukesh Yadav.
Singh explained that the gang had established multiple websites online, ostensibly offering escort services to unsuspecting individuals.Once victims were lured in, they were directed to secluded locations where they became victims of the gang’s criminal activities.
The gang is suspected to be responsible for a string of robberies, but many of their victims refrained from reporting the crimes due to fear of repercussions and damage to their reputation. “This operation was aimed at dismantling similar rackets in which people were being robbed under the guise of online escort services,” said an official.
Singh said that the gang was also involved in honeytrap and blackmailing several people. “We urge people not to fall into such traps. We have learned that the accused were targeting vulnerable individuals,” he said, adding that two persons including a woman are on the run
“We suspect that the gang was behind multiple similar criminal activities, but in several cases, people did not come forward. We have also found that the gang lured people through various fake online websites they had created,” the official added.
