Jaipur Won’t Be Bifurcated, Says Min Khachariyawas | Jaipur News

Jaipur: State food and civil supply minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas said on Saturday that Jaipur will not be split into two districts.
“Jaipur will remain undivided as before. This is the reason why no special officer has been appointed by the chief minister for Jaipur district. Both the civic bodies of the city—Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) Heritage and JMC Greater will remain in Jaipur only,” said Khachariyawas, MLA from the Civil Lines constituency, at a presser.
Khachariyawas had earlier objected to the splitting of Jaipur into two districts when chief minister Ashok Gehlot announced the creation of 19 new districts.
“I would have never said yes for Jaipur North and South had this decision been made during a cabinet meeting. In fact, I had protested in the cabinet meetings following this announcement. Government cannot be not run with stubbornness. The decision has to be withdrawn,” said Khachariyawas.
Following the minister’s statement made today, opposition leaders started criticising the Gehlot government.
“Is this statement the official statement of Rajasthan Government? Is this statement given with the consent of Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot? The press conference has given birth to unnecessary confusion. The chief minister should clarify it,” said Punit Karnawat, the deputy mayor of JMC Greater.
