31k Dust Masks & Other Safety Gears Given To Mine Workers | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Apart from frequent inspections of mines of lease holders and quarry licensees to ensure adoption of safety standards, the mines department has given 39,553 safety equipment including dust masks to mine workers through a campaign. At a meeting with field officers, ACS (mines and petroleum) Subodh Aggarwal said along with the revenue generation, safety of workers is also a priority for the government.
“We had a record revenue for financial year that ended this March. We are giving similar priority to safety of mine workers. In a campaign, we distributed nearly 40,000 safety equipment to workers engaged in mining activities,” said Agarwal. He said while the department served notices to employers who flouted safety standards, coordinated efforts were made to distribute 31,718 dust masks, 2,870 helmets, 1385 safety shoes, 1402 gloves kits, 190 ear plugs, etc.
“About 1,682 mining lease holders and quarry licensees have been instructed to rectify their deficiencies in safety standards. The government would not tolerate laxity in compliance of mine safety standards and would not refrain from taking unpleasant steps if required,” added Agarwal.
Director of mines Sandesh Nayak said the process of online auction of 51 contracts of royalty collection centres worth Rs 689 crore has started, and it will be completed by the end of this month. At the same time, 135 royalty collection contracts worth Rs 1389 crore are currently underway.
Nayak said a record revenue of Rs 7,211 crore has been collected in 2022-23 and the department is taking all measures to improve the revenue in the new financial year.
