Jda To Open Sodala Elevated Road In Phases From Aug 15 | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Commuters facing traffic jams at Hawa Sadak will find partial relief as the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) plans to open Sodala elevated road in phases.
As merging two elevated roads, Sodala elevated road and Ajmer Road will take time, the civic body decides to open traffic initially between LIC Circle and Nandpuri.
A senior official at JDA said, “Efforts are being made to open the stretch between LIC office and Nandpuri on August 15. Merging of two elevated roads at Ajmer Road is not possible anytime soon.”
Under the project, four ramps, the JDA has constructed four ramps for traffic to ascend and descend from the elevated road. Initially, traffic going towards Ajmer Road can use the elevated road from Ambedkar Circle and descend from the ramp constructed at Hawa Sadak near Nandpuri near the Hilton Hotel.
An official said, “To connect Ajmer Road with under-constructed Sodala road, two steel girders will be installed. Following this reinforced cement concrete (RCC) jacketing will be carried out. The process is time consuming.”
The civic body has also constructed the 1.8 km-long elevated structure for commuters plying from Ajmer Road end. “The stretch will be open in first phase as its completed and commuters coming from Ajmer Road can descend in front of Kathputli Nagar.”
Delay in construction of Sodala elevated road continues to irk commuters as the stretch has turned into a traffic nightmare, especially during peak hours. As the project seems to be never ending, residents are facing extreme inconvenience because of the construction activities leaving commuters jostling for space every morning and evening. However, officials claim, if portion of elevated road will be thrown open, it will provide huge relief to commuters during peak hours.
