Jhotwara: Jhotwara Rob To Open With Barely 50% Of Work Done |

Jaipur: Although chief minister Ashok Gehlot is expected to inaugurate the Jhotwara Railway Over Bridge (ROB) project by September end, the torubles of Jhotwara residents would continue for a few more months. Only 50% stretch of the new ramp of the ROB has been constructed but Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) officials have found a temporary solution to allow traffic on the stretch that has been constructed.
“We have completed the construction work of the stretch between the Niwaru Road Ramp and Chumu Puliya of the new ramp. We would connect the old ramp temporarily with the new ramp from somewhere near the Niwaru Road-ramp to facilitate the inauguration,” said a JDA official.
It means that vehicles taking the ROB from the Lata Circle -side will have to take the old ramp till Niwaru Road ramp. After crossing the Niwaru Road-ramp, the old ramp of the ROB would get merged with the new ramp. The new ramp has exits – one at the Sikhar Road crossing and the other one right at the crossing of Chomu Puliya. Vehicles from Lata Circle can take a left turn towards Niwaru Road through the old ramp, while vehicles coming from Niwaru Road would take the new ramp once they are taking a right turn on the ROB.
“All other diversions that JDA had planned in the project would be allowed only after the construction works get over. It would take three to four months to complete the entire stretch,” said another JDA official.
Former chief minister Vasundhara Raje laid the foundation stone for this project in July 2018, but as soon as the construction began, problems started with a stretch of 125 metres where landowners were unwilling to hand over land.

Tiff between JDA & traffic police over diversion
Drama unfolded in Jaipur as officials from the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) and the city’s traffic police clashed over traffic diversion plans for the newly inaugurated signal-free traffic project at Laxmi Mandir Tiraha. JDA engineers started diverting traffic towards a newly constructed underpass, but were stopped by traffic department officials who removed barricades. The JDA has now sought permission from the traffic department to make the necessary diversions. However, the project remains incomplete due to the JDA’s failure to acquire land adjacent to the Tonk Phatak.
