Jmc: Remove Jmc-h Mayor Gurjar Till Probe Continues: Bjp Councillors | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: After a case was registered against JMC Heritage mayor and councillors, BJP and Independent councillors from the civic body are now demanding removal of the mayor from her post till the probe continues.
The councillors said that due to the post, the mayor can influence the investigation. On Friday, the mayor was in the JMC Heritage office.
Subhash Vyas, councillor from Ward 34 said, “An FIR has been filed against the mayor, her husband, and several councillors; they should be removed from their posts till the investigation continues. Similar action was taken against the mayor and councillors in JMC Greater, why should there is a different approach in this case.”
JMC Heritage mayor Munesh Gurjar and her husband Sushil and 11 councillors, have been accused of using casteist slurs against additional commissioner Rajendra Kumar Verma while attempting to coerce him into signing a file after confining him for hours. The Manak Chowk police station on Wednesday night registered a case against the 15 accused, including 11 councillors, under IPC Sections 342 (wrongful confinement), 332 (causing hurt to deter a public servant from his duty), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from the discharge of his duty), 506 (criminal intimidation), and relevant sections under the SC/ST Act.
Kusum Yadav, an Independent councillor from Kishanpole zone said, “Work in JMC has been impacted since a long time as no working committees were formed, to top that now, a case has been registered against the mayor. The government should immediately remove her from the post so that the investigation does not get influenced under any pressure.”
Jitendra Lakhwani, another BJP councillor said, “The mayor had already resigned from her post as part of the protest, even after that she is in her office and working, what does that mean. If similar action can be taken in JMC Greater then why this mayor is not being removed.”
The problem began on June 15 following a dispute between the Congress councillors and Verma over a file intended for the approval of the deployment of beat sanitation workers. The mayor and the councillors alleged Verma delayed the file for the past 17 days while failing to respond to the mayor’s calls.
