Jodhpur Gang-rape: Many Hurt As Cops, Abvp Activists Clash At Ru | Jaipur News

Jaipur: While protesting over the Jodhpur rape case at the main gate of Rajasthan University on Tuesday, eight student leaders of ABVP were rounded up by police after they pelted stones at them amid lathi-charge.
Two police personnel and five students have suffered minor injuries in the clash on Tuesday. Senior police officials said that those who have been injured in the clash have been sent for medical examination.
“Security measures have been intensified around campus and staff from three different police stations deployed to monitor law and order situation there,” said a senior police official.
The ABVP representatives held a mega protest at the main gate of RU over the Jodhpur rape case. On Monday, ABVP had protested outside the PHQ. The student union has been protesting against the allegations made by NSUI in the case. To control the crowd, police lathi-charged the protesters.
ABVP representatives said the student union has clarified that the accused are not part of ABVP, but still NSUI and the government agencies are trying to defame the student body.
“Law and order system has broken down in Rajasthan. Cases of rape incidents are breaking their records every day and instead of taking strict action against the culprits, the Congress government is lathi charging on ABVP and trying to defame us in the election year. Whereas ABVP has no connection with any of the accused,” said Hushyar Meena, national secretary of ABVP, who led the protest.
On Tuesday afternoon ABVP representatives started gathering at the university campus in large numbers to take out a protest march. Around 3pm, they tried to come on JLN Marg. To prevent this, the police closed the main gate of the university. ABVP workers climbed the gate and forcibly started trying to come out of the gate. To stop this, the police lathi-charged the students.
