Jodhpur: Hawala Courier Nabbed With ₹33 Lakh In Bus To Jodhpur | Jaipur News
Jaisalmer: Police in Barmer district have caught a person travelling to Jodhpur with lakhs of rupees in a bag. A total of Rs 33 lakh was seized in denominations of Rs 500, Rs 200 and Rs 50. Police have informed the Income Tax department and under Section 102 of CrPC are inquiring about the unaccounted cash.
SP Digant Anand said that the probe suggests the person works as a courier for hawala money. He identified the arrested man as Malaram, who was travelling in a roadways bus to Jodhpur.
The SP said that Pachpadra SHO Rajendra Singh received information that a person named Malaram with a lot of cash was going to Jodhpur from Barmer. The police team went to the bus stand but the bus had left, after which the police chased the bus and stopped it near a petrol pump. They found a person sitting with a black bag. The person gave his name as Malaram (50), resident of Aalpura in Barmer. His bag was checked and it was found that Rs 33 lakh, with 6500 notes of Rs 500, 100 notes of Rs 200 and 600 notes of Rs 50, were in it. He could not give a satisfactory reply about the cash, the SP said. tnn
