Joshi Readies New Bjp Team For Raj | Jaipur News
Jaipur: State BJP president CP Joshi has reportedly retained almost 60 per cent of the members of the previous team in the new core organisational setup he has finalised. The new team will be announced after approval by the party’s central leadership.
Considering the assembly elections due by the yearend, the draft state executive list prepared has leaders from the regions such as eastern Rajasthan where the party’s performance was poor, said sources. The party’s state executive consists of six vice-presidents, four general secretaries, six state ministers and about 125 members.
Joshi, the MP from Chittorgarh who took charge as BJP state president on March 23, is believed to have struck a fine balance among communities like Jats, Gujjars, Meena and STs in his new team.
Although the core team was finalised after discussions with the BJP high command, and the last discussion was on the members, the party’s state leaders do not rule out surprises in the list. They point at how former state president Satish Poonia was replaced by Joshi barely 7-8 months before the state elections. Considering the trend party has followed in other states, it is expected that young faces picked up in the draft list will be retained in the final list.
“The central leaders have stated from time to time that they want to have young faces in the party. The young leaders from all regions and communities have been picked up in the list. The idea is that young leaders would connect with voters better and build momentum for the assembly elections,” said a senior BJP leader.
The criterion followed for picking the 125 members is to give preference to those who did not find a seat in the previous team.
