Judicial Custody: Court Sends Pwd Engrs To Judicial Custody For 14 Days | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: A special court on Thursday sent to judicial custody for 14 days the three PWD engineers, including a chief engineer, who were arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in a Rs 10 lakh bribery case on Wednesday.
PWD chief engineer Subodh Kumar Malik, executive engineer Jitendra Kumar Jain and assistant engineer Anant Kumar Gupta were caught red-handed during a raid by ACB at Malik’s residence in Jaipur. Malik, who is set to retire in December, had allegedly demanded the bribe from Jain, who was posted in Dungarpur, in exchange for not pursuing disciplinary action against him in a departmental matter. Gupta, who was posted in Banswara, had allegedly facilitated the exchange of bribe money.
“All three were sent to judicial custody. The documents seized during the raid are being examined, and a final report will be prepared soon,” said Malik’s advocate Deepak Chouhan. He also moved an application before the court seeking provision of medical facilities to Malik.
According to ACB, Jain and Gupta arrived in Jaipur by train at 7:30am on Wednesday, checked into a hotel in Polo Victory area, and then reached Malik’s home. The ACB team, having already been tipped off about the three engineers’ plans, had laid a trap and managed to catch them red-handed.
“Jain had received notices due to alleged financial irregularities in the construction of the ITI Bhavan in Dungarpur valued at Rs 5 crore. An inquiry into those allegations is on,” said an ACB source.
