Judiciary Work: Lawyers Shun Work Across Raj Against Cm’s Remarks | Jaipur News

JAIPUR/JODHPUR: Protesting against chief minister Ashok Gehlot’s statement on judiciary work, advocates boycotted work in all the courts in Jaipur and Jodhpur on Friday. They demanded from Gehlot to apologize and withdraw his statement. However, for some of the important matters government lawyers made their appearances in the high court and lower courts in Jaipur.
Arun Chaturvedi, a BJP leader in the capacity of a lawyer, gave a memorandum to Kalraj Mishra, the governor of Rajasthan. “He is holding such a high constitutional post and his comment on the judiciary and lawyers is surely insulting for the fraternity,” Chaturvedi said.
Lawyers in Jodhpur, Udaipur, Sikar, Jhunjhunu and other parts of the state participated in boycotting the work as a symbolic protest.
General secretary of the advocates’ association, Jodhpur, Girdhar Singh Bhati said that the statement of Gehlot has exhibited his helplessness in preventing corruption in the executive and has given such statements to divert the attention of the people.
Anand Singh Rajawat, coordinator, BJP legal cell, said, “This is a highly irresponsible statement by the chief minister Ashok Gehlot. Advocates with BJP ideology also burnt the CM’s effigy at the lower court in Jaipur. “This can’t be tolerated, “said Surendra Singh Naruka, state coordinator of BJP’s election wing.
However, it all went off peacefully as police were tracking the movement of the lawyers near the sessions court and district court.
In Jaipur, lawyers were seen sitting outside the court premises and were condemning the chief minister Ashok Gehlot for his remarks on the judiciary. However, some lawyers had a different opinion. “If he has said something we all need to do a serious introspection,” said Vimal Chaudhary, a lawyer at the Rajasthan High court.
Deepak Chauhan, a criminal lawyer, said, “He is head of the state and every common man has a faith in judiciary. For every matter, a man who is facing any dispute finds courts and law as appropriate places to get justice. If the chief minister of a state makes such comments, this will certainly create a bad impression among the common man. Such a statement publicly is condemnable.”
However, Gehlot on Thursday through twitter, said, “I have always respected and believed in the judiciary. From time to time, many retired Supreme Court judges, and even retired Chief Justices have commented on corruption in the judiciary and expressed concern over it,” he said.
