Junior Girls National Football Championship: Hosts Rajasthan Lose Junior Girls National Football Opener | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Meghalaya and Uttar Pradesh started their campaigns with wins at the Junior Girls National Football Championship which got underway at the Royal Football Club Stadium here on Monday.
However, hosts Rajasthan were off to a false start in the annual tournament, organised by the Rajasthan Football Association under the auspices of the All India Football Federation.
The opening day featured two matches wherein Meghalaya prevailed over Telangana with a commanding score of 4-1. Later in the evening, Uttar Pradesh edged out hosts Rajasthan 3-2.
The annual tournament will continue until October 15, featuring a total of 16 matches. The forthcoming fixtures will witness Jammu and Kashmir taking on Uttar Pradesh followed by a second match in the evening between Meghalaya and Rajasthan.
Manvendra Singh Jasol, president of the Rajasthan Football Association was the chief guest and inaugurated the tourney. Kirti Rathore, chairperson of the Rajasthan Women’s Board, Sonia Rathore, vice-chairperson, Jeetendra Singh and Kubersingh Udaypurvati were the guests of honour.
Dilip Singh Shekhawat said that the event also included the felicitation of several former national and international football players. tnn
