Kota, Eliminator, Rpl, Jaipur, Opener, Nikhil Sachdev, Batting, Khaleel Ahmed, Bowling: Udaipur Thump Kota By 6 Wickets In Rpl | Jaipur News

Jaipur: In a one-sided contest, Kartik Sharma smacked 69 off 38 balls as Udaipur cruised to a six-wicket win with six overs to spare against Kota in the Eliminator of the Rajasthan Premier League (RPL) at SMS Stadium here on Wednesday. Chasing 126, the opener entertained with an array of shots as he struck eight 6s and three 4s.
Udaipur will next play the Qualifier 2 on Friday against the loser of the Qualifier 1 that will be played between Jaipur and Jodhpur on Thursday.
While Udaipur were riding high on confidence from their previous day’s five-wicket win over Sikar that helped them qualify for the playoffs, Kota’s batting was as abysmal as it was in their last league game against Jaipur which they lost by 28 runs.
Having decided to bat first, opener Nikhil Sachdev (49 off 30 balls) was smart in his execution and held one end till the 13th over, but others did not even put up a fight. Apart from the 2nd over where Kota churned out 17 runs and in the 16th that yielded 16 runs, Kota batters failed to show up. They could not even finish their quota of 20 overs and were bundled out in 19.3 overs. More than the quality of Udaipur’s bowling, it was reckless stroke play that cost Kota the match.
Captain Khaleel Ahmed (4-015-2) led the way with a clinical 3-over spell in the Powerplay where he brought the first breakthrough and leaked only 9 runs. Courtesy of his spell, Kota finished the first 6 overs at 36/2.
Khaleel’s bowling battery, that included left-arm seamer Ajay Dharnia (3.3-0-14-3), right-arm medium pacer Sahil Dhiwan (4-0-44-2) and left-arm spinner Yash Kothari (4-0-20-1), followed in his footsteps to push Kota to the wall.
“I enjoy swing bowling and my body is in good rhythm. In the last three-four months I have worked hard and that is why you can see the results today,” said Khaleel in the post-match presentation.
