City to get 7 hostels for labourers
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has identified seven plots for the construction of ‘Shramik Baseras’ or accommodation facilities for migrant workers. The project aims to provide temporary stay options for workers who returned to their native places during the pandemic but lacked accommodation upon their return. The Gujarat Labour Welfare Board (GLWB) will be allotted over 43,000 square meters of land for the construction of these hostels, which will be located within a 1-kilometer radius of labor markets. The facilities will charge a nominal rent to provide affordable short-term accommodation for workers.
