Kota: ACB-Jhalawar arrested a land records inspector for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 at the tehsil office in Pedawa town of Jhalawar district on Wednesday evening. The accused woman inspector had allegedly demanded the money for measurement of an agriculture land and had already accepted Rs 5,000.
Land inspector Sangeeta Kumari Jain (54), posted in Pewada Tehsil of Jhalawar, was arrested after she had allegedly accepted bribe of Rs 10,000 in the tehsil office in Pedawa, ACB-Jhalawar ASP Bhawani Shankar Meena said. The inspector had demanded Rs 15,000 from a local for measuring 8.50 bighas of agriculture land and to release 3.5 bighas of illegally encroached plot, he added.
Chain Singh approached the agency on July 6 and lodged a complaint against Jain. A verification of the complaint was carried out on the same day and trap was planned accordingly, he added.
The inspector called the complainant with the remaining amount on Wednesday evening in the tehsil office and asked him to place the amount on a red coloured dispatch register on the table.
An ACB sleuth, who was already on the spot, immediately recovered the bribe amount and arrested the inspector, he added. tnn
