Lathi Police: 9 Camels Die After Being Hit By Train | Jaipur News

Jaisalmer: Nine camels were killed after being hit by a Jaisalmer-bound train in Lathi police station area here on Wednesday night. Three days ago, 3 camels were mowed down by a train in Jaisalmer district. Lathi SHO Bagdu Ram went to the spot to inspect on Thursday. Camel rearers in Khetolai, Pokaran, Lathi and other areas in Jaisalmer often leave the animals free to wander, and incidents of them being hit by trains are increasingly common. Sumer Singh Bhati, president of the Degrai Usht Sansthan, said that solar and windmill units were being set up on pasture lands and this was driving camels and other wildlife towards cities and villages. “The government is not serious about this issue and if the trend of industrialisation continues, number of camels will keep declining in the region,” he said. tnn
