Liquor: Cash, Drugs, Liquor Worth ₹141cr Seized In Raj Ahead Of Polls | Jaipur News

Jaipur: As the assembly elections in Rajasthan draw closer, the enforcement agencies in the state have started seizures of cash, liquor, narcotics, and other contraband. In the past 35 days, seizures amounting to Rs 141.1 crore have been done in the state, said the state’s chief electoral officer (CEO) Praveen Gupta on Sunday.
Gupta said that cash amounting to Rs 11.3 crore was seized by enforcement agencies along with narcotics worth Rs 67.3 crore, liquor worth Rs 20.2 crore, precious metals worth Rs 28 crore, and freebies amounting to Rs 14.3 crore.
The election department had issued directions to the enforcement agencies to start monitoring transaction of cash, distribution of liquor, drugs and narcotics even before implementation of the model code of conduct (MCC) in the state.
A pre-election review meeting of the administration with police officers of Jaipur and Sikar divisions was held on Saturday. In the meeting, principal secretary (home) Anand Kumar said that police and administrative officers should jointly visit the polling stations and establish direct communication with people in sensitive areas.
“People should be able to vote fearlessly,” Kumar said at the meeting.
Director general of police (DGP) Umesh Mishra said the election commission’s guidelines should be followed to ensure free, fair, and peaceful elections.

So far, a total of 151kg of MDMA worth Rs 300 crores has been seized from the 12 arrested individuals. Lalit Patil, who ran a drug cartel from a hospital ward, escaped during a recent raid.
Gold worth ` 1.5 crore seized at Trichy airport
Customs authorities at Trichy International Airport have seized gold worth Rs 1.5 crore in two separate incidents. In the first incident, two passengers arriving from Kuala Lumpur were found to have concealed gold capsules in their rectum. In the second incident, two passengers arriving from Dubai were found to have hidden gold paste. The total weight of the seized gold was 1.8 kg and its value was Rs 1.05 crore. Similar incidents of gold smuggling have also been reported at Mangaluru International Airport.
