bjp: Rajasthan: Congress, BJP set to form zila parishad board in 2 districts each | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Congress is set to form the zila parishad board in two districts (Karauli and Ganganagar), while BJP in another two districts (Baran and Kota).
The counting for 106 zila parishad members in four districts concluded on Tuesday. Overall results have given a clear upper edge to the ruling party with 62 seats, while BJP gained victory in 36 seats.

BJP’s poor performance was recorded in Ganganagar with winning only three seats out of 31. The district was one of the epicentres of farmers protesting the three farm laws that appeared to have helped Congress which won on 25 seats.
In Karauli too, Congress has secured one-sided victory by winning 15 seats and BJP won only seven out of 27 seats. BJP has a photo finish in Baran with winning 13 seats and Congress on 12. The saffron party got 13 seats, while the opposition got 10 seats.
In panchayat samiti results, Congress is much ahead of BJP with winning 278 and 165 seats, respectively. The smaller parties—BSP and CPI (M) have gained 14 and 13 seats, respectively.
“The results have made it clear that people have voted in favour of the ruling government’s social welfare schemes and developmental works. Our party is set to make pradhan in more than 20 panchayat samitis. The result reflects that Congress is set to form its government in 2023,” said Govind Singh Dotasra, president of Pradesh Congress Committee.
Calling the results against the ruling party, BJP state president Satish Poonia said that mandate in the local body polls indicates that people are very angry with the Gehlot led government.
“Our party is set to get zila pramukh in Kota and Baran. Now, BJP will have its zila pramukh in 19 of the 33 districts shows that people have been voting in favour of the BJP,” said Poonia.
