FCRA licence of 1811 NGOs cancelled during 2019-2021; PHFI’s FCRA registration renewed | India News

NEW DELHI: The home ministry has cancelled the registration of 1,811 NGOs and associations under Foreign Contribution Regulation Act between 2019 and 2021, the home ministry said in reply to a question in the Lok Sabha.
In reply to another question, the ministry said the applications for registration of 2,309 NGOs under FCRA were rejected since 2019, as were 445 requests for renewal and 123 for prior permission.
At the same time, the MHA has revised its previous order against Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI), which required it to obtain prior permission for each foreign contribution receipt, as well as Missionaries of Charity, Kolkata.
“Since November, 2021 the FCRA certificate of Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI), New Delhi and Missionaries of Charity (MoC), Kolkata was renewed by way of revision,” said MoS(home) Nityanand Rai in reply to a third question.
