Man kills self, blames minister Mahesh Joshi & JMC-H for harassment | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: The body of a 47-year-old man was found hanging from an iron angle on the ceiling of a transport company’s godown in Subash Chowk police station area of the city on Monday morning.
The man was reportedly disturbed over getting a notice from JMC-Heritage for constructing a house that was found illegal.
Prior to taking the extreme step, the man, identified as Ram Prasad Meena, shot a video and made it viral. He alleged in the video that cabinet minister Mahesh Joshi and five others were harassing him.
When contacted, Joshi said, “The matter of suicide has come to my attention. Let me go through the FIR and know its contents before I can react on it.”
After the body was found hanging, a large number of people gathered and blocked the road on Monday morning. His relatives also staged a sit-in dharna and did not let police to bring the body down and send it for an autopsy.
They demanded the arrests of people responsible for the suicide. The body was yet to be taken down till late in the night. “The victim used to run a tea stall near the transport company and was constructing a house behind the temple. He had received a notice from the Hawa Mahal zone of JMC-Heritage on April 12,” said SHO Ramphool Meena of Subash Chowk police station.
In the video, Ram Prasad Meena is heard saying, “My name is Ram Prasad Meena, and my family has been tortured for a long time. Those who are torturing us include Devendra Sharma, Lalit Sharma, Munshi Tak, Dev Awasthi, Lal Chand Devnani and cabinet minister Mahesh Joshi. I am ending my life, and I request Baba Dr Kirori Lal Meena to ensure my family gets justice.”
Abhishek, the son of the deceased, said his family was living at Kanwar Nagar’s Chandi Ka Taksal for the past 75 years and that they had got stay grant land patta for their house at 339-A near Girdhariji temple.
“The process of lodging an FIR based on the complaint lodged by the family is on. We are trying to persuade the family to allow post-mortem of the body,” said DCP (North) Rashi Dogra Dudi.
