Many boycotted vote in Rajasthan over unaddressed grievances | India News
JAIPUR: As citizens across Rajasthan eagerly participated in the democratic process by casting their votes in the just-concluded polls, some booths became the focal point of a different narrative due to protests through voter boycotts.
In the Chavarli village of the Pindwara Abu assembly constituency in Sirohi district, all 890 voters chose to abstain from voting, standing united to highlight unaddressed grievances. The primary demand voiced by the Chavarli villagers was the inclusion of their village in the Basantgarh Gram Panchayat. Additionally, they pressed for the construction of a service road connecting their village to the highway. Citing safety concerns, the villagers asserted that accidents had claimed lives due to the absence of a service road.
Despite efforts by administrative and police officers to engage in dialogue with the villagers, a resolution remained elusive.
In a similar vein, Tunga village in Bassi and Palawala Jatan witnessed boycotts.
