Markets Flooded With Last-minute Shoppers As Craze For Holi Grabs All | Jaipur News
Jaipur: Markets in Jaipur were on Sunday flooded with people who were out for last-minute buying of colours, sweets and other items for the festival of Holi. Be it the walled city areas or uptown markets, shops selling sprinklers, colours, sweets, etc, were thronged by customers.
As people have refrained from playing Holi in the past couple of years due to Covid-19, this year the craze for the festival is much more, as per the local traders.
“People are preferring herbal gulaal, even if it means paying much more. We, too, are not keeping cheaper colours that are harsh to the skin,” said Radhe Shyam Khandelwal, a wholesale trader of Holi colours at Tripolia Bazaar.
The sweet shops in the walled city were flooded with customers who seemed to be on a buying spree. “Moong Thaal is a must during this festival but the favourite is Gujiya. This year the craze for the festival is much more compared to the previous years,” said Anil Goswami who has an old sweet shop at Ghee Walon Ka Rasta in Johari Bazaar.
By evening, markets were choc-a-bloc and traffic was chaotic, especially at MI Road, New Sanganer Road, Kalwar Road, Sikar Road and Tonk Road, where people were seen hurriedly wrapping up their shopping.
