Meena: Rajya Sabha Mp Continues To Keep Police On Their Toes | Jaipur News

Jaipur: BJP’s Rajya Sabha member Kirori Lal Meena has become a security challenge for Rajasthan cops.
Having done it several times in the past, Meena once again exposed chinks in VVIP security after he came with the widows of three Pulwama martyrs and staged a sit-in outside the assembly gate, sending the cops into a tizzy, on February 28. Police faced a tough time removing Meena from the assembly after several rounds of cajoling and heated arguments.
In 2021, Meena left Jaipur police red-faced after he trekked through small pathways in the middle of the night and hoisted a flag in one of the ramparts of the Amagarh Fort, despite cops promising adequate security arrangements in place to prevent anyone from going near the fort. The MP poses another challenge for the cops because they shy away from resorting to force. Meena’s ability to spring up with protestors in fortified areas like the chief minister’s residence (CMR), Civil Lines and the assembly has often left the cops scratching their heads. Even as the police continue to deny intelligence failure after all his escapades, it is evident that the cops have never been able to keep track of his shenanigans. For instance, in April 2021, Meena shook the city police when he came to Jaipur with the body of a priest from Tekari village in Dausa district. Meena and his supporters organized a dharna with the body near the Civil Lines railway crossing, barely a few metres away from the high-security zone. It was unbelievable that Meena could come all the way from Dausa and reach the high security with a corpse, crossing the jurisdictions of over a dozen police stations in his wake. As per sources, Meena has many supporters in cities and small villages and he swiftly marshals his supporters from different areas into small groups before organizing a big gathering, making it difficult for the police to keep a tab on his movements. “There is no intelligence failure. He is a member of the Rajya Sabha and can move easily from one place to another. As far as his protest outside the assembly was concerned, we had shifted him without using force the same day,” said an official.
