JMC-G mayor may move court again over probe report | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: The dispute between JMC-Greater mayor Soumya Gurjar and the state government appears to be never-ending. After the decision of the judicial inquiry went against Gurjar, she is planning to move court. Despite several attempts, the mayor remained unavailable for comments. Sources said there is no other option for her but to file a writ against this investigation in the high court or the Supreme Court.
The judicial inquiry against the mayor started on June 6 last year. An official source familiar with the development said there were hearings almost every week with more than 200 appearances and statements of 88 witnesses were recorded. “Of these witnesses, 56 were from JMC-Greater, while the statements of 36 witnesses were presented from the mayor and councilors’ side. All the allegations leveled against the mayor were held true by the judicial inquiry officer. The inquiry report has been sent in a closed envelope to the DLB, on which the state government has to take a decision,” added the official.
The dispute occurred on June 4 when the then corporation commissioner Yagyamitra Singh Deo had alleged that Gurjar and four councillors misbehaved and assaulted him at the mayor’s chamber after calling him for a meeting. An FIR was lodged at Jyoti Nagar police station against the mayor and four councillors.
Following the suspension, the state government had appointed Sheel Dhabhai as the new mayor. However, in February after nearly a gap of seven months.
