1,274 Probe Cases Against Public Reps Pending In Panchayat Dept | Jaipur News

Jaipur: As many as 1,274 cases of probe in connection with complaints against public representatives (sarpanches, pradhans, panches) are pending with the panchayati raj department, according to data accessed by TOI.
The highest number of cases – 105 – are pending in Jaipur district, followed by Jodhpur (75), Bharatpur (64), Sirohi (58), Sriganganagar (54), Pali (52), Ajmer (49), Sawai Madhopur (48), Sikar and Tonk (47 each), Udaipur (46), Bhilwara (44), Bikaner (43), Jalore (42), Kota (41), and Alwar and Chittorgarh (40 each).
The complaints against public representatives include cases of contesting elections despite having three children, producing fake degree certificates, making erroneous payments, use of funds without any work done on the ground, producing fake bills, poor quality of work, and discrepancies in sanctions and work done.
As many as 49 cases under Section 17A of the new Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act 2018 are also pending with the department. Of these, 29 are against public representatives, 13 against block development officers (BDOs), and seven against village development officers (VDOs).
According to the data, 73 cases of 17CCA rules (minor penalties of withholding annual increment) and 49 cases of 16CCA rules (punishment up to termination from job) are pending against BDOs.
As many as 35 cases of 17CCA rules and 27 cases of 16CCA rules are pending against junior/assistant/executive and superintendent engineers in the department. Also, 25 cases of 16 CCA rules and 24 cases of 17CCA rules are pending against additional/assistant block development officers.
