Missing Priest’s Body Found In Alwar Pond | Jaipur News

Jaipur: The body of a 58-year-old priest who went missing from his house was found in a nearby pond at Sagar area of Alwar on Friday morning. Although preliminary investigation suggested it was a case of suicide, his sister has lodged a case of murder.
According to police, the body of Kamlesh Pandit was found a few hours after his wife complained to police about him going missing from home. She said Pandit was at his home at Moosi Maharani Ki Chatri on Thursday evening and had gone to bed after dinner. “In her complaint, his wife said she got up at 4.15 AM on Friday and found him missing from the house. She searched for him in nearby areas before informing us. In the morning, at around 8AM, his body was found in a pond in Sagar Basti area, a few kilometres away from his house,” said an officer of Kotwali police station in Alwar.
Preliminary investigations suggested Pandit, who worked as a priest for different families and was not attached with any particular temple, could have accidently drowned in the pond while taking a dip early in the morning. However, after his sister lodged a case of murder, police registered a murder case and initiated further investigations.
“The victim’s sister said he had spoken to her at 10 PM on Thursday and that he was perfectly alright. She said it appeared that he had been murdered. So we have lodged a murder case and started investigations,” added the officer.
