On Sunday monsoon entered the state and conditions were favourable for further advancement. “South west monsoon advanced towards many other places on Monday. Many districts including Udaipur, Dungarpur, Banswara, Ajmer, Bhilwara, Kota, Bharatpur, Karauli and Sawai Madhopur witnessed moderate to heavy showers,” said a senior officer of Met office, Jaipur.
Sriganganagar received a rainfall of 109mm, highest in the state. Districts where monsoon has not yet arrived include Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Barmer.
Jaipur had mild to moderate showers in the afternoon. Many areas including colonies close to Tonk Road, Ajmer Road, Khatipura Road and Kalwar Road witnessed good rainfall. Showers started at 2.15pm and lasted for half an hour. The sudden rainfall also exposed the lofty claims made by civic authorities on their cleaning of the sewerage lines as rampant water logging was witnessed. Traffic remained chaotic for over an hour. Met office said heavy rainfall is likely in Udaipur and Kota divisions.
