Multi-crore Loan Fraud Unearthed In Jaisalmer District | Jaipur News
Jaisalmer: A shocking case of fraudulent loans has come to light in Jaisalmer district, where loans worth crores of rupees were obtained from various banks based on forged documents without any actual collateral. The scam, which involved multiple banks, has raised concerns about the integrity of the lending system.
The latest incident was discovered in Nachana town, where Marudhara Grameen Bank was targeted. According to the preliminary investigation, the former bank manager, an assistant manager, and the legal advisor colluded to secure loans amounting to Rs 70 lakh in the names of seven individuals, all of whom lacked genuine agricultural land as verified by government records.
Authorities suspect that this is not an isolated incident and that more than 70 similar cases may have taken place, resulting in loans exceeding Rs 7 crore being fraudulently obtained based on counterfeit documents.
Regional manager of Marudhara Gramin Bank, Narendra Khatri, promptly lodged an FIR with the Nachana police after the discrepancies came to light. The FIR names 11 individuals, including the seven loan recipients and the former bank manager Sheel Kumar, assistant manager Satish Nanda, legal advisor Vishan Singh, and agent Raghunathram.
Police Superintendent Vikas Sangwan confirmed the severity of the fraud, revealing that individuals from Satyaya, Baddiya, Nachana, and Aaskandra submitted falsified land documents to Marudhara Gramin Bank to secure loans. The accused face charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document), and 120B (criminal conspiracy). The investigation is currently being handled by Deputy SP Ali Mohammad.
A similar case involving a cooperative bank has also emerged in Ramgarh town, adding to the concern about the prevalence of loan fraud in the region.
