Mute, leprosy patients can be part of 2 temple boards: Rajasthan Devasthan minister Shakuntala Rawat | Jaipur News
Jaipur: The Assembly on Friday passed the Nathdwara Temple (Amendment) Bill, 2022 and the Shri Sanwalia Ji Temple (Amendment) Bill, 2022 by voice vote.
Devasthan minister Shakuntala Rawat presented both the Bills for discussion. After the discussion, Rawat while highlighting the objectives and reasons for the Bills said that both have been brought as per the directions of the Supreme Court.
She said before this amendment, hearing impaired and leprosy patients could not become members of the boards of both temples. She said both the Bills will end their discrimination and help to bring them to the mainstream.
Rawat in reply to the discussion said with the passage of these Nills, now hearing impaired and leprosy patients will be able to become chairmen and members of these temple boards and participate in religious rituals. Devasthan department has taken up the renovation of various religious places. The state government has increased the honorarium of the priests, she said.
During the debate, the BJP members demanded that a comprehensive Bill should have been brought in guaranteeing protection to priests .
The minister said the Moksha-Kalash Yojana was started during Covid through Devasthan department and was a great help to the people and Senior Citizen Pilgrimage Scheme, the people of the state are being given an opportunity to go on pilgrimage free of cost.
The social justice and empowerment minister tabled the Bill for the setting up of Baba Amte Divyang university bill 2023 in Jaipur on Friday.
