Jaipur: BJP leaders on Sunday submitted a memorandum to Governor Kalraj Mishra seeking direction to the state government to take steps against rising crimes against women. Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathore said, “In 48 hours, atrocities on women and rape incidents have taken place at 13 different places in Rajasthan. A terrible incident happened when two students committed suicide. They were upset as the police didn’t take any action despite complaints.”

Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi expressed his concern over the increasing caste discrimination and crimes against scheduled caste and oppressed people in the state. He cited instances such as dumping human feces in water tanks meant for scheduled caste communities and attacks on dalit individuals. Ravi also highlighted the issue of low conviction rates in rape cases and emphasized the need to eliminate caste discrimination for a society to live in dignity. The study conducted by Arappor Iyakkam NGO revealed that many villages in Tamil Nadu, which were awarded for having caste-free cremation and burial grounds, still practice discrimination.

He further mentioned that the 2024 Lok Sabha polls were for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and emphasized the BJP’s focus on strengthening the party in the state.

178 places in Nagpur unsafe for women
A security audit conducted by the Nagpur city police has identified 178 unsafe areas, particularly for women, due to their remoteness or lack of surveillance. The audit revealed that 30 of these areas are privately owned, while 148 are public places. Many of the identified unsafe areas lack proper lighting, CCTV surveillance, and security guards. The police chief has instructed police stations to increase patrolling and surveillance in these crime-prone areas. The police department is also working with concerned agencies and the civic body to improve safety measures in these locations.
