None Of The Terms Match The Generated Keywords.: Ahead Of Festivals, City Sees Power Cuts Due To Maintenance |

As per officials from the power department, the power cuts have hit not just Jaipur but also other districts such as Jodhpur, Ajmer, Kota, Bharatpur, Bikaner and Udaipur.
“The power cuts are being done by the power supply companies for routine maintenance. This is also to ensure that there is no shortage of power supply during the upcoming festival season,” said a senior official.
This year, demand for electricity has gone up by 29% till September compared to previous few years. On September 4, the department registered a record demand for power till date. The month of August saw a dry spell of monsoon which led to high demand for electricity.
“There has been more demand for power this year but we also ensured that people are not majorly affected. The city is decked up during Diwali and that is why ahead of the festival the power distributors often cut supply so that there is sufficient stock on peak days,” the official said.
Last month, the state had to cut power supply for industries in the evening and will provide it to farmers and residents. Earlier this month also the state saw three production units going down which were later repaired. The department had then also gone for a 1-hour power cut till the units were corrected.
