On B’day, Man Drowns With His Friend In Dam | Jaipur News
Jaipur: Birthday celebrations turned awry as two friends drowned at Machmari dam in Karauli late on Saturday evening. Police pulled out the bodies on Sunday evening. The deceased were identified as Rinku Meena (30) and Sanjay (25).
“It was Rinku’s birthday on Saturday. Rinku along with his six friends had gone to celebrate his birthday at the dam. After cutting cake, Rinku and Sanjay decided to take a dip in the dam,” said a police officer.
The dam was too deep for them and they were unable to swim properly. “Both started drowning and called out to their friends for help. Unfortunately, none of their friends knew swimming. Early on Sunday, a team of police divers fished out the body,” the officer added.
One of the friends, Shivdas, said he jumped into the water to save them but failed. “Sanjay Meena, Ajay Meena, Aman Meena, Mahesh Meena, Lehri Meena and Gaurav Meena had gone to celebrate the birthday of Rinku Meena. Both Rinku and Sanjay insisted on taking a dip in the dam. Prior to this, both had got their pictures clicked. They went into the water and drowned as they could not assess the depth,” Shivdas said.
