Jaipur: Chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday said that Congress will fight the upcoming elections on its performance in the last five years. He was speaking at the ERCP awareness rally in Sikrai. Gehlot claimed that no other state government could claim the kind of development and people-friendly schemes launched by Congress government in Rajasthan. He said that the party now stands united setting aside small differences.
Gehlot said the state government has sanctioned Rs 14,000 crore to tackle the drinking water problem in Dasua alone. While a permanent solution to the water crisis in the region could be addressed only by ERCP project. He alleged that PM Modi cheated the people on ERCP. He said that the government has floated the tender to bring water from Isarda dam to Dausa to address the drinking water problem. “Congress party has made the party manifesto a government document by placing it in the first cabinet which has never happened in any other state. The Congress manifesto is not empty promises but guarantees,” he claimed.
Gehlot named sitting MLAs of the Congress in Dausa district – Parsadi Lal Meena, Mamta Bhupesh, Murari Lal Meena, G R Khatana and appealed to people to vote for them. Gehlot also named independent MLA Omprakash Hudla, who has extended support to the Congress government. He reiterated the demand for central legislation on social security along the lines of four rights-based legislation at the Centre during UPA regime.
Speaking on the occasion, former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot said that Dausa has always been a Congress bastion. The work that Congress has done for development, progress and advancement of all communities stands out and I have had the privilege of being your MP from this district.
He said that he wanted to retain his relations with Dausa in his next life as well.
Pilot alleged that the Central government was discriminating against the Congress-ruled state. He said that Central ministers had said that they would declare ERCP as a national project, but it did not happen despite 24 out of 25 MPs of the state being from BJP. If the Congress government is formed, it will include many deprived villages in the DPR of ERCP, said Pilot.
With Congress government in five states, Rajasthan will buck the trend of changing government every five years, he added.
