JAIPUR: Engineers of the Public Health and Engineering Department (PHED) are trying make some elaborate arrangements to meet the increased demand of water supply in Jaipur during days of Diwali.
Officials said, like every year they want to increase the supply of water tankers across the city.
In addition, there are plans to increase the daily supply of pipeline water as well.
“Last year, we had given additional water supply on the days of Diwali. We had a plan to give this ‘extra supply’ this year too. However, because of election we would be require the permission of the election commission this time,” said a senior PHED official.
Meanwhile, the district collector has instructed PHED to deploy water tankers at selected locations across the city on festival days.
Engineers claimed that such arrangement would be in place from the dates as instructed.
“Most of our officials are on election duty. But we are trying to keep additional manpower deployed during festival days,” another official added.
